This half term in RE, we will explore a big and thoughtful question:

🌍 Our Big Question

Is it better to express religion through art and architecture or through charity and generosity?

We will learn about how people of faith express their beliefs in different ways through:
⛪ churches and cathedrals
🕌 mosques
🎨 religious art and calligraphy
❤️ charity, compassion and helping others

This unit explores examples from Christianity and Islam and encourages respectful discussion and thoughtful reflection.

🧠 What We Will Learn

By the end of this unit, we will know that:

• Sacred buildings are important to many religious communities.
• Religious art can help express beliefs and spirituality.
• Christians and Muslims often believe generosity and charity are very important.
• Many religious charities help people around the world.
• Different people may have different opinions about how religion should be expressed.
• Respectful discussion helps us understand different viewpoints.

We will learn about beautiful religious buildings from around the world, including:

• How can buildings inspire people?
• Can art help people feel close to God?
• Do beautiful buildings and helping others both matter?

We will also explore how religious beliefs inspire people to help others through charities such as:

• Christian Aid
• Muslim Aid
• Islamic Relief UK

We will discover how compassion, generosity and service are important in many religions.

Research a charity that helps others.
How does it make a difference in the world?
