Tuesday 5th January 2021
Good Morning Class 1 and parents, I hope you are all well. After the announcement yesterday evening, I’m sure many of you will have queries and concerns. I will do my best to answer to the best of my ability.
We are now carrying out online learning for the forseeable future and everything you will need in order to access your learning will be available here on our class page.
Today, we will be preparing support packs for the children, to support their remote learning. These packs will include a book in which to record work, maths paper, 100 square grid, multiplication grid for those who need them and a pencil, rubber, ruler and sharpener. Please ensure you child works in pencil.
We are aiming to address reading materials/story sacks ASAP but as you will appreciate, this will be a tricky area because of issuing, receiving and quarantining. There will be reading activities uploaded onto the class page/blended learning plan for your child to access each week. There are also a range of phonics/spelling cards, along with reading prompts in your child's 'home learning pack', which we sent out before Christmas to support your child with their early reading.
The children are familiar with using the Oak National Academy for most subjects. They will need to keep stopping the tuition videos to complete activities, some verbally, some written. It is fine to replay parts if needed.
White Rose Maths is the platform they are most familiar with for maths. Maths challenges will also be set and can be written straight into maths books. Please let me know if you have any difficulties when logging on. If links do not work, please copy and paste the web addresses into your search bar.
I have uploaded Class One's new home learning challenge grid that includes a range of fun activities surrounding our new topic 'Castles and Dragons. I have loved seeing some of the things the children have made from our previous one on Space! I will also continue to add activities onto Seesaw for children to complete in their own time.
Please submit your child’s work electronically at the end of each school day. You can do this by sending me a picture via the class email. I can then mark and give feedback. This will also alert me to any difficulties which your child might be having, which I can then address.
We are aware of how tricky home learning can be and understand that this is going to be a challenging time. We appreciate your efforts in supporting your children and our school during lockdown.
Please keep me informed of any problems and I will do everything I can to support you.
I may not respond immediately to emails during the school day as I will be teaching, but will address any queries ASAP during the day.
I will endeavour to sort out any problems by email or phone call, by five o’clock each day but unless it is an emergency, contact after this time may have to wait until the following day.
Please check this page regularly as I will be posting new information/resources each week.
We hope to ensure that even though your child is learning remotely that they remain a part of our class and we hope to introduce further online interaction such as Zoom calls into the classroom to allow pupils to engage with their peers and myself.
Thank you for your patience and understanding. We are extremely grateful.
Stay safe!
Many Thanks
Miss Davies
