Medium Term Planning

What have we been up to?

What we’ve been up to in Autumn 1…

We have had such a wonderful 7 weeks getting to know each other and having lots of fun in Willow Class. We’ve been enjoying lots of hands on, practical activities across all subjects, which have really supported our learning journey. Our topic this half term was Dinosaurs, which we have learnt about in depth across a range of subjects - we even had a go at being Palaeontologists just like Mary Anning, to explore how she would have carefully retrieved fossils  (…except we used cookies!). In maths, we have been securing our knowledge of place value ready to move on to addition and subtraction next half term. We have also been doing lots of wonderful writing, including writing a letter to the National History Museum! Thank you again for all of our families and friends that supported our Dinosaur Party and Harvest Festival, we hope you enjoyed it as much as we did! Mrs Hunt and I hope you all have a well deserved rest this half term break, ready for our next exciting topic…Space!

Our first week in Willow Class…

After a fantastic first week, we thought we would share a few photos of our classroom. Miss Thompson and Mrs Hunt had been busy getting it ready for our wonderful Class 1 children, who we were delighted to welcome this week.

The Book Vote station has been a huge success, with children being able to vote for which story they would like each day during story time. We also have an Investigation Station set up, which will change every few weeks in line with our learning. During our first week back, the theme was Autumn. The children loved creating leaf rubbing art and looking at all of the different leaves and conkers through magnifying glasses.

We’re so glad to see that the children love the classroom as much as we do and look forward to an exciting half term ahead!
