Festival of Sporting Skills

Festival of Sporting Skills 2013

We are proud to have been the host school for a Festival of Sporting Skills.  The aim of the event was to raise the profile of sports linked to the Governments’ Olympic Legacy Funding as we move into the new academic year.

A selection of Key Stage 2 children from the Elizabethan Family of Schools attended the event -Sutton-cum-Lound, Everton, Mattersey, Ranby, Ranskill, Sturton le Steeple, Carr Hill and St. Josephs  (unfortunately North Wheatley weren’t able to join us on this occasion).

The children and visiting adults learnt from very talented sports staff from the Sports Development team, Elizabethan Sports Leaders and one of our leading sports teachers for the Family of Schools, Mrs Clark.  The Extended Services Coordinator for the Elizabethan Family of Schools, Bev Fullwood, provided the children with a sports goody bag as a memento from the day!

The children learnt a wide range of multi-skills which they can apply to future P.E lessons and competitive sports.  The idea being that by practising the key skills, children will considerably develop their ability in a wide range of sports/games.

We would like to thank all involved in planning, teaching and supporting the event, particularly Tony Wright, the Senior Sports Development Officer, for funding the day for our schools.

We are looking forward to our continuing sporting journey!
